The owners Moss & Christine Siddle opened Dandenong Ranges Veterinary Centre on 26th July 1999. At that time there was one vet - Moss Siddle and one veterinary nurse - Elissa Taylor. The original site was at 2 Basin-Olinda Rd, Olinda & was chosen for its exact central location in the Dandenong Ranges. Previously, the building was used as a hardware & lawn mower shop. There was a fire causing the hardware shop to close & it never re-opened. This site was perfect for the first few years but ultimately more room was needed & hence the surgery has now moved into the main street. LeafBusters now has its International Headquarters at the old surgery site.
Today, there are 3 vets & 5 nurses employed at Dandenong Ranges Veterinary Centre. We are now situated in the spacious surroundings & building at 1449 Mt Dandenong Tourist Rd, Olinda (beside the Mt Dandenong Hotel).
The owners decided to settle in the Dandenong Ranges after years of travel around the world. Originally from Queensland, Moss has worked in over 10 different veterinary clinics in Australia & overseas but loves the people & idyllic surroundings of the Dandenongs.
The kookaburra logo was chosen for its distinctly Australian image and association with nature & the Dandenong Ranges. Also the ridges on the top of the logo are intended to represent the hills of the Dandenong Ranges. The heritage colour scheme of green, red & cream is intended to portray our quest to blend & help with nature when treating animals. The overall appearance of the logo is that of a key hence our slogan 'The Key to Animal Health". More recently our slogan has become "Your Local Village Vet" to endorse our policy of being part of the local community.
Dandenong Ranges Veterinary Centre sponsors & donates time & money to numerous local organisations & clubs, schools & CFA's. We are a major sponsor of the Olinda Cricket Club, local netball clubs, junior football & cricket club & the Olinda-Ferny Creek Football Club. The intention is to give service to our unique community, not just from a veterinary perspective, so that the village atmosphere remains. The surgery endeavours to employ local people and accepts work experience students from families who are clients.
The expectations and needs of our clients and patients are very important. Our mission statement is:
"To provide exceptional veterinary care in a professional, friendly and compassionate manner, whilst maintaining the highest standard of integrity and veterinary ethics."
We care about the owners of the pets we see too. In this regard we offer loyalty rewards for those diligent owners who maintain optimum healthcare for their animals. Again, because we are a close-knit community of villages we strive to know our pet owners on a more personal basis.
The vets & nurses at Dandenong Ranges Veterinary Centre welcome you to our clinic if you are a new client and look forward to seeing you regularly whether you are a new or existing client. |
