House & Farm Calls

If your pet gets too stressed out by the car trip to the vet never fear - we’ll come to you!

House visits can be arranged anywhere in our call out area which extends from Bayswater to Gembrook, incorporating Monbulk, Macclesfield, Boronia, The Basin, Tecoma, Upwey, Ferny Ck, Sassafras, Montrose, Kalorama, Olinda, Mt Dandenong, Kallista, Belgrave, Silvan, Tremont, Cockatoo, Yellingbo, etc.

The charge increases the further away from Olinda/Mt Dandenong you live. Some cases may still need to be brought back to the surgery (eg. If x-rays are required or surgery is needed). For more complicated consultations often it is recommended to visit our surgery rather than a house call because we have the full range of medical & surgical facilities at hand if needed. Times can be arranged to suit but we prefer to do house visits in the late morning or early afternoon during weekdays.

Home euthanasia can be a less stressful experience for you and your pet. Most of the time we will sedate your pet first so they calmly go to sleep in their bed/basket before euthanasia with an overdose of barbiturate injection.

A pet cremation service is available via Rowville Pet Crematorium if required. Individual cremations cost from $220 upwards depending on the size of your dog, cat or other small pet. This can be arranged completely from our surgery. Ashes can be returned sealed in a wooden casket or left open to be scattered in the garden or wherever is a suitable place for your loyal companion.

Farm calls

All species of animal including horses, cattle, alpacas, sheep, goats, deer, etc can be attended by our experienced veterinary surgeons. The area of travel extends from Gembrook to Bayswater incorporating Montrose, Macclesfield, The Basin, Tecoma and virtually all areas of the Dandenong Ranges. Unfortunately large animal x-rays can no longer be done since we have upgraded to direct digital imaging at the surgery. Referral to a nearby equine hospital can be arranged if this is required.

Pre-purchase veterinary examinations (including a written report) of horses & ponies can be performed by our practice as well as blood typing and identification of racehorses & trotters/pacers. We have an Australian Stud Book approved veterinarian (Moss Siddle) who is also a member of the Australian Equine Veterinary Association and has vast experience with dressage horses & miniature ponies. Minor surgeries under sedation or general anaesthesia (including gelding operations) can be performed. More complicated or specialist procedures (like colic surgery) can be referred to one of the many equine centres in Melbourne if required. We can also see large animals at our surgery rather than at your stable/farm for a reduced fee.

Drenching and teeth rasping of horses can be performed at reasonable rates with multiple horses/ponies.

Our veterinary team works in conjunction with local farriers to arrange for specialist trimming, shoeing & hoof care if required.
